he course is divided in 2 units: Green Chemistry (UNIT 1) and Bioconjugations (UNIT 2).
UNIT 1: Several approaches developed by industry and the university over the last 30 years will be discussed and presented, focusing on: i.) Green solvents, ii) catalytic processes, iii) matrices for E-factor calculation. Particularly the 12 principles of green chemistry for a sustainable world will be treated as well as the environmental impact of chemical products and processes, green matrices, catalytic peocesses (homogeneous and heterogeneous), biotransformations, energy efficiency, analytical techniques and quality by design, and toxicity, sustainability and legislation.
UNIT 2: Definition and classification of the different bioconjugates (i.e. antibody-drug, protein-small molecule, aptamer-drug, etc) and their applications. Possible linkers for stable bioconjugates. Cleavable and non-cleavable linkers and their design, develop and synthesis. Sitospecific bioconjugation and bioconjugation natural aminoacids. Realease techniques and their analysis. Applications of the different bioconjugates in diagnostic, therapy and analysis.
